A poignant exploration of a young woman’s emotionally abusive relationship with her partner, Under the Current uses water imagery to symbolize the drastic highs and lows of their strained bond. The Present-day scenes are mirrored with flashbacks, gradually unraveling the face of safety she once believed she had. This story portrays the emotional turmoil of manipulation and gaslighting, shedding light on the continuous battle that victims become trapped in as they effortlessly struggle to break free and reach the surface.

The collection reveals my loved ones in their own intimate worlds, untouched and unposed, allowing an audience, even for just a moment, to join me as a silent witness to their lives, free of fabrication.

This snippet is from an independent short film I am currently working on. In this scene from Between the Pages, a young couple moves into their first apartment together, finding comfort in the desolate space, together. I chose this emptiness to emphasize their strong connection by forcing the audience to focus entirely on the characters. This intimate moment captures an oasis of serenity amidst the fears of the unknown, portraying their sense of safety and the longing they feel for one another.

This scene from Between the Pages features a young woman, amidst an argument with her partner, finding comfort in a book he had gifted her. What used to be a symbol of their growing relationship has turned into a reminder of their love, following wherever she goes. The discovery of a note found between the pages, consisted of his unconditional love for her. This reality that they almost lost what they had, incited fear within her. The natural lighting and gentle snow falling outside, with the addition of close-ups, all combine to evoke the emotional weight of the moment. The quiet stillness juxtaposed with the internal turmoil and longing of the character makes the scene resonate deeply, showcasing my approach to capturing intimate, emotional moments
